Natural Gas (methane) is rising from the pressure building deep under the salt dome complex.
The rising floor of the dome, the crude oil / methane being released — is now beginning to spread to adjacent areas. Which means the area underneath the houses is also rising (forcing the gas / crude upwards).. creating a buildup of gas underneath the slabs of the houses .
Sooner or later, I’d expect the houses to also begin to “sink” as the dome weakens.. as the greater area continues to “deform” due to the craton pressure building further north in Arkansas/Oklahoma/Texas… Its just my personal opinion on that at the moment, but I don’t see anything there that will stop further collapse in the direction of the houses.
Short of a complete halt in wider area seismic movement, I don’t see HOW further collapse is not 100% expected.
In otherwords, until things calm down globally, you can expect further movement along the edge of the craton (plate).. and thus further movement / rise at the salt dome deformed edge of the craton.
If you live in the area, or live down wind from this area — Baton Rouge, New Orleans — you need to have a plan in place to escape any possible large scale release of gas, or explosion. While just a SMALL possibility of explosion exists, its better to be safe than sorry.
