Appreciation…

Joy comes in small packages as well as large. A few stalks of wild
flowers in a vase means the world to me after a long, cold and all white
winter. To begin to see the different colors of flowers gracing the
house once again is sheer delight. The starkness of winter can be harsh
but it births such an appreciation for spring, summer and autumn. It
makes the long wait well worth it. The mountainsides are glowing in many
shades of neon greens right now as different trees begin putting out
their leaves. The apple trees in the orchard are getting ready to
blossom soon which will be so beautiful as well. Life is exploding
everywhere and it feels so good to be a part of it. These are the
earthly delights we need to all keep alive and always deeply
appreciated. Creator has so graciously put before us so many pleasurable
experiences along our path that help us get from one station on our
journey to another. There is always something to look forward to if we
open our eyes and our hearts.
How have we drifted so far astray from appreciating what we have been
gifted? We have entered into a space in time where everything is
expected and little is appreciated. It is such an empty existence we
seem to be living. We have lost our connections to what truly matters in
life, we’d rather watch mindless shows on television than spend
meaningful time with our families, spending time out in the wonders of
nature, sharing our time with close friends. We excitedly moved our
black boxes into our living rooms, popped the pop corn and sat down to
watch, never getting back up again. At first it was harmless
entertainment but over time it became a giant wedge in our living rooms
that drove our families apart and took control of our minds. We began to
think less and less for ourselves and believed whatever the programs
were telling us. The trap had been set and now it has sprung and we are
captive in its clutches. Turn away from it and embrace the beauty that
surrounds you and forget the ugliness the dark wishes you to drown in.
Remember my asking you to challenge yourself everyday to find at
least one thing that is beautiful? There are so many things of beauty
out there to be appreciated. It teaches you to look for beauty everyday
and it becomes a way of life. It is spring and new life is awakening
everywhere. Take time to go out and watch it unfold. Soon it will be
gone and then summer will make her grand appearance. As with everything
in life, it is forever shifting and changing, never to be repeated in
exactly the same way. Don’t miss it, enjoy it!
Blessings to us all,
