Context DOES matter. If you don’t speak Spanish and are being threatened by a Spaniard it behooves you to learn a few words– especially a few words or symbols that can SAVE YOUR LIFE.
The Civil Flag was used by customs and flown over courthouses and post offices in peacetime so it is a flag of The United States just as much as the war time Stars and Stripes– however, unless we want to fight and die as “rebels” against the Constitution and against the Union of states in favor of a bunch of separate small European-style states or another “union” like the confederate states tried, then we need to know and use THEIR language and symbology to communicate with THEM and announce our standing and claim our status as “peaceful inhabitants” in THEIR system so that they have no excuse for portraying us as “enemies” or treating us as “terrorists” and instead are obligated to protect us and our property.
Now, any fool who wants to pull out the guns and blaze away at the US Army is a dead fool and a pawn in the hands of our enemies– someone who creates an excuse for them to murder us and who puts the onus of breaking the peace on us instead of on those who have committed the treason and wrong-doing against us. And those who want to create new flags instead of regaining control of our own are similarly wrong-headed in my opinion. We must be wise as serpents and gentle as doves and shame them before the whole world.
Will they fire upon those they are under contract to serve and protect? Will they fire upon those flying their own civil flag under declared conditions of peace? If so, the fault is clearly upon THEM and the people they harm are just as clearly in the right. Public opinion will condemn them and political will then chains them.
We gain nothing through pride, arrogance, violence, hard-heartedness, or any other display of separateness or “power”. That way only opens up doorways for our enemies to feast upon our bones. So I counsel you all who are carried away in your indignation and your new-found mental freedom and who are righteously indignant– learn the language of the oppressors and use their own symbols, history, and contractual obligations to (1) force them to do the right thing willingly or (2) show their evil to the whole world without excuse.
Too many people are putting too much faith in “jural societies” when history has already proven that such societies are just as prone to oppression and evil as good– just look at the French Revolution as an example! They are also forgetting the issue of enforcement and the lack of infrastructure that currently exists– forcing someone to abide by contractual agreements is and should be a civil matter highly influenced by increasing public awareness and public opinion throughout the world.
We must always remember that there are no monsters here that we did not create ourselves and that we share part of the blame for this circumstance. None of us and certainly none of the newly awakened among us have the clean hands required– it was American apathy and laziness and lack of interest in history and government that has allowed this mess to stand for 150 years and which has wrecked such havoc in the rest of the world.
Now that “our” monster has shown its parasitic and violent nature toward its hosts are we to be pitied? No. We must not give into the natural impulse for judgment and vengeance for not only will we not create justice that way, neither shall we receive it.
