3 Differences Between Truth and Experience
One of the greatest lessons we can learn is the difference between what is truth and what is merely our experience.
The awareness of this concept and understanding the differences between truth and experience, is a doorway to new levels of expanded consciousness that enable us to be more of an observer of our reality from a higher state of awareness…as opposed to the person, the body, that everything seems to “be happening to”.
By accepting that we all have different experiences, letting go of the need to align experience, allowing each other the validity of their experience rather than saying “that is not true” because we didn’t have the same experience, we find that we are able to avoid creating resistance and instead find greater levels of unity and alignment with each other.

What is truth?

“The true or actual state of matter
conformity with face or reality; verity (the truth of a statement “The sky appears blue.”
a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like: (mathematical truths)
the state or character of being true ~ actuality or actual existence…”
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/truth?s=t
Truth is something that is uunwavering, unchanging, not subject to the particular views, beliefs or feelings of any person, place or thing. Truth simply is what it is. It cannot be argued, it is self-evident and beyond contest. It exists on a higher level, untouchable.

What is experience?

“A particular instance of personally encountering or undergoing something. “My encounter with the bear in the woods was a frightening experience.”
The process or fact of personally observing, encountering or undergoing something. “Business experience, relationship experience, childhood experience.”
Knowledge or practical wisdom gained from what one has observed, encountered or undergone.
Philosophy. The totality of the cognitions given by perception; all that is perceived, understood and remembered.”
http://www.dictionary.com/browse/experience?s=t
Experience can feel like a personal truth, to the one having the experience. But it is not necessarily truth. It is merely a subjective view from our own perspective.
For example, “My encounter with the bear in the woods was a frightening experience.”, is this truth? For the person who had this frightening experience with a bear in the woods, it is true they were frightened, but what is true about it? Are bears frightening? Will every person who encounters a bear experience fear?

3 Differences between truth and experience

  • Truth stands immutable and beyond contest. No matter what anyone believes, it does not change what is truth.
However not everyone experiences the same thing the same way, and what feels true to one is not always the same for others.
Example: Chocolate ice-cream is delicious, I feel that is true. Not everyone agrees. Are they wrong?

  • A person’s beliefs may feel true to them because they believe them. But if someone has an opposing view then there cannot be 2 opposing truths. This would be a subjective experience that feels like truth but is not.
(This particular difference between truth and experience has been the cause of much disharmony on our planet, especially regarding religion.)

  • Truth never changes, it stands beyond the confines of space and time.
Experiences change all of the time. Our beliefs evolve just as surely as our taste buds.

Why is it important to know these 3 differences between truth and experience?

For awakening beings who are brought here to shine their light and assist in illuminating what has been an otherwise unconscious planet, coming to a state of awareness where we are unconditionally loving, accepting and non-judgmental of others means that we must all accept the experiences we have regardless of whether or not they align with our personal feelings or beliefs.
If we are to bring in a new world of love, harmony and unity then we have to be conscious enough to overcome our differences in beliefs, our differences in experience and commit to aligning ourselves with immutable truths.
For example, instead of focusing on one’s beliefs in religion, let us accept our different experiences and at least agree on truth; such as that a focus on love and unity are more beneficial to building a thriving society than resisting each other in fear and discord.
By understanding that one’s experience does not necessarily equal truth, then we realize that it does not have to be a point of contest when someone’s experience does not align with our own.
As I said in a recent article “Finding Courage in Surrendering“:
“Finding courage in surrendering is an extremely powerful way to live and transform the reality around you. It may not be easy but it is definitely worth it.
This is a huge opportunity for many of us to avoid and disarm conflicts big and small, and to draw a clear distinction between truth and experience.
We can accept others and what they feel, what they experience, even if they speak poorly of us…because we know that is simply their experience and not our truth.
I intend we can use these examples of 3 differences between truth and experience to align ourselves with truth even if we do not align with each others’ experiences.
There are many opportunities for us to heal ourselves, each other and this planet, if we begin to accept each other for the experiences we have without judgement and recognize that we are all here to have different experiences.
If you are reading these 3 differences between truth and experience right now then you have already made the choice to raise your consciousness and be a beacon of light that illuminates this world. Even if that wasn’t your intention, now that you’ve read these words you will not soon forget them. 3 Differences Between Truth and Experience Simple-smile
Truth is untouchable and that’s something I’ve learned through my journey, that to hold to truth made me, and will make you, untouchable as well.
These are some of the concepts I will be going into in a deeper way in my course “Awakening 101: A Step By Step Guide To Your Highest Potential“. It is my intention that we will be able to find strength in truth, love, acceptance and unity by raising our awareness and our vibrational frequency, to shine an even brighter light that casts away the shadows of this world.
