Homes lost as fire nightmare continues

The Deans Gap fire at Shoalhaven crossing the Princes Highway overnight. Picture: NSW RFS Source: Supplied

  • Fire danger still high as temperatures ease
  • Victoria: 20 houses destroyed near Ballarat
  • NSW: Bush blaze hits Sydney, firey hurt
  • NSW: Teens in trouble over fire lighting
  • Tasmania: A 360 view of Boomer Bay. Scene 1. Scene 2

ARSONISTS in Victoria and NSW have sparked fear and anxiety among suburban residents, and anger amongst fire authorities.

A deliberately-lit blaze has threatened several homes including an
aged care facility in Melbourne’s northwest, leaving local residents
panicked and distressed.

Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board spokesman Trevor
Woodward said residents were calling in tears at 1.30am (AEDT) this
morning as the scrub fire in Brimbank Park at Keilor East threatened
their back fences.

The fire was one of three deliberately-lit blazes in the park overnight.

In NSW, three teenage boys have been charged with deliberately
lighting a fire in bushland in Sydney’s west during a “catastrophic”
fire conditions yesterday.

Officers were called to a fire in bushland behind Chestnut and Sedgman Crescent at about 1:15pm (AEDT).

About 15 trucks from the Rural Fire Service (RFS) and five police
cars rushed to the scene. Three teenage boys were arrested near the fire
and questioned at Mt Druitt police station.

In Victoria, up to 20 homes have been destroyed in
Victoria and at least one has been lost in NSW, as fires continue to
ravage the nation. Full story news.com.au

No purps they are in different states thank goodness. It's hot as hell here and everything is dying but at least we do not have threat of a fire on our doorstep! Brisbane is only 2 hours from here and no threats there either! Thanks for asking purps!

The fires are in other states a loooooooooong way from us. We are under fire threat but we do control burns in QLD so the risk is lessened somewhat.

Yeah well I dont know where the fire are in QLD? They wouldn't be to the scale they are down south, those fires are burning up entire towns. My hubby has just got home from working down near Brisbane and there were no fires near there and he works in the bush too.

Hey purps you'll be able to visit soon enough, we want to go on a road trip to see the things we've never seen before! C'mon RV!

Oh really? Well he should have just done that to start with instead of going in to politics and wrecking the education system and before that he was environment minister or some crap and he is now all for putting in nuclear power plants and selling Uranium to friggin Africa or India or whatever country they have just agreed to sell to. Do you know, that I have sent several emails to the Prime Ministers office and you get nothing back?! Ignorant bastards!

I am so bummed to hear that he is a politician though.

I may never listen to the Oils ever ever again.

I had a hard time reconciling that Ian Anderson was now the owner of a fishery.... but this..... this is just tragic!!!!
Yet another sign of the apocalypse if you ask me.

You don't need Oils anyway, Purpleskyz, just use 'Mazola' Corn oil- You'll be all set! Just don't use 'Crisco', that's shortenening!!
