The Maui News
Maui County Civil Defense downgraded the tsunami warming to a tsunami advisory at about 1 a.m. today.
The downgrade means that residents will be allowed to return to their
homes at about 1:30 a.m. today. The half-hour delay is meant to give
county crews uninterrupted access to turn water and sewer services back
on.
Harbors still remain closed.
People also are advised to stay off of beaches and out of the water.
“Although we have no reports of the tsunami damaging property or
endangering lives, it is important that we treat these events
seriously,” the news release said.
