A former banker at the Swiss bank UBS who is wanted for involvement in large-scale tax evasion by the United States is caught Sunday in Bologna, Italy. That local media have announced.
The 54 year old Raoul Weil is suspected to have helped Wealthy Americans to “hide” their money in Swiss bank accounts. It involves a total amount of 20 billion dollars (15 billion euros) that was not reported to the tax.
Raoul Weil, who internationally signaled state, was caught when he checked in at a luxury hotel in the Italian city under his own name.
The Swiss was director of asset management of UBS department. He was indicted in 2008 in the U.S. for his alleged role in the fraud. Raoul Weil has always denied all allegations against him.
