As we swim through life’s energy currents we brush against an enormous amount of forces that we seldom fathom or come to terms with. There are forces that constantly shape us, or in other words shape our experiences and our inner states. When we are totally unaware of how these forces are moving us or affecting our everyday life we somehow feel dragged by the tides.
We sometimes feel overwhelmed, insecure, overpowered or ungrounded. Our mindset turns fatalistic and we project a sense of powerlessness back to our world, our relationships and surroundings. We feel unaccomplished, held captive by our own destiny that pushes us around into places we feel we don’t belong to or haven’t been invited to. We often feel certain forces pushing hard against us and this makes us build a view of the world that is hostile, unsupportive and treacherous. We feel that life is hard in general and that things do not flow easily towards us.
Balancing on the WavesThe other side of the coin is when we are in balance with these inner and outer energies. We allow ourselves to experience life more fully – meaning that we are more open to life’s forces without being swept away or crushed by them when they beat heavily on our shores. More importantly, we are open and aware of those energies that are supportive, healing, nourishing and creative. This is the real blessing. There is an awakening when we come to be more attentive to those creative forces that are opening opportunities of change in us, through not ignoring life lessons when they present themselves to us, or through allowing and trusting when we come through a passage or crossing we don’t yet fully understand. There is a precious gift in being able to ‘see’ what our mind cannot yet see or comprehend.
Giving Yourself the Permission to RecollectWe become more whole and human when we give ourselves the permission to love and forgive ourselves. As we give ourselves the permission to stop being hard on ourselves and momentarily disconnect and disassociate from our internal stories – from our fears, insecurities, limiting beliefs and the incessant mind chatter, we connect to a larger whole we call the Self – an infinite source of power and wisdom that goes beyond our mind or distorted perception of reality. We transcend beyond the jittery and fragmented concepts and beliefs about ourselves. We start recollecting.
It’s All in the ExperienceHow do we do all this? Well the starting point that precedes any path to action is to allow and give ourselves the permission. When we feel disconnected from the healing and creative energies of life and we feel inundated and swept around by adverse forces it is because we are not giving ourselves the permission to be connected to those creative forces or to be protected from the adversities (that are really not adversities in themselves). When ‘external’ forces shape us, whether negatively or positively, it is only because we allow them to be in our own inner experience of life. This is the powerful message. In reality there are no ‘inner’ or ‘outer’ forces or energies. There is only energy. And there is no negative or positive energies but only energy. They hurt us or heal us, support us or beat us depending on how we integrate it in our own experience. But whatever we experience is something we are either acceding or denying to ourselves whether we are aware of it or not.
The Guru in YouIt doesn’t even need to be conscious. There are pacts or agreements you have made at a soul level. There are subconscious beliefs or blockages – such as for example the belief of not deserving love, prosperity or happiness – that you are constantly feeding yourself with and hence shaping how you experience the world and the forces around you. If you want to receive all the love, wealth and happiness you can possibly get in life and fulfill your destiny, you just need to allow it – to give yourself permission. No one else can give you the permission – no teacher, lover, enemy or guru can do so. They can only show you the way or awaken you but in the end you have to give yourself the chance.
Stop BargainingHow do we allow and give ourselves permission to be whatever we want? Well, let me ask another question: “How do you give anyone or anything permission to do something or behave in a certain way?”. You do so by not forming any expectation, judgment and most of all any resistance to it. You just let it be because you are OK with it. You do not give yourself permission to experience whatever you want in life because in reality you are against it by default. It’s not life that is not permitting you to experience beauty, magic or joy. It’s only you who are resisting it to flow through you unconditionally – that is not because you did something special or deserve it in some particular way but because it just flows without anything to hold it back. Without any bargaining or trading off. It just is.
You might be asking: “how could it be so easy or simple?”. Truth is, it can be he easiest or most difficult thing depending on how you make it to be. The principle is simple but the practice comes in levels of difficulty and it’s up to us to either get stuck in the first level or jump straight to the top without flexing a muscle.
Calling the Power WithinWhen you give yourself the permission to do something, you are effectively claiming your power back. You are calling the power within. Most of the time our power gets dissipated into too many paths of action that do not converge. That is when we get overpowered by life’s forces and energies. We end up being scattered over different directions some of which oppose each other. This is where inner conflict arises. Although a part of us would be really wanting to be happy, loved and to receive life’s gifts, other parts of us would be pushing us away from it. Hence, to give permission to ourselves to experience whatever we want in life and call on our inner power, we have to start recollecting the fragments. We have to intuitively understand and feel how there are aspects of us that are holding us back. This is key. We need to identify and be honest with ourselves that we are somehow not whole because some part/s of us are holding us back.
Recollecting is also to remember both of which mean to collect the parts or members together. It is recollecting our true Self – who we really are without false perceptions and judgments. So calling the power within to rise above any situation or perceived adversity is to most of all recollect yourself – to put the pieces together and to access a deeper memory that tells you who you really are. You are a free spirit who needs no permission whatsoever to experience whatever you want in life.
