The Mueller investigation is wrapping up soon and it appears that the special counsel has come up empty-handed with evidence of Trump-Russia collusion.
Knowing this, the House Democrats have started a bogus investigation to find any crime that Trump may or may not have committed.
The House committee have requested documents from 81 different people who are in some way related to Trump.
One of these people is Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange.
Barry Polack, one of Assange’s lawyers stated: “The First Amendment dictates that any inquiry by Congress should not begin by issuing requests to journalists for documents pertaining to its news gathering.”
The US government has made it a priority to prosecute Assange for various reasons. Check out what the Gateway Pundit reported:
WikiLeaks is protected under the Bartnicki First Amendment Test, which holds that a publisher cannot be held liable for a disclosure of stolen information if the disclosure deals with “a matter of public concern” and provided that the speaker was not “involved” in the theft. Given that WikiLeaks does not steal or hack the documents that they publish, this precedent should apply to Assange. There is no doubt that their publications have been newsworthy and of public concern.
Currently, Chelsea Manning is in prison for refusing to testify in a secret grand jury against the publisher.
Assange entered the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on June 19, 2012. He was soon granted political asylum. The UK has long refused to acknowledge the findings of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (UNWGAD), which found that Assange is being arbitrarily and unlawfully detained and must be immediately released without the threat of arrest and compensated.
Julian Assange isn’t the only one who is refusing to submit to the far Left Democrats in the House.
President Trump and his lawyers have made it clear that they are going to fight back. Check out what The Daily Beast reported:
But the president’s lawyers believe they’ve got the committee caught in a logic trap.
According to a source with knowledge of the response, Trump’s team of outside attorneys informed Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and his committee that they would not be handing over any documents. The brief letter, sent by Trump attorney Jane Raskin, lays out that Jay Sekulow—the Trump lawyer who received the documents request early this month—and the current team never turned over anything pertinent to the document request to Mueller’s office or the Southern District. Hence, the source said, when Nadler asked Trump’s outside counsel for such documents, the attorneys’ position is that the House Democrat was asking for something that didn’t exist.
Michael Caputo, a 2016 campaign aid for President Trump, earlier in the month sent a letter to the House stating that he was NOT going to testify.
“My attorney responded to the House Judiciary document request within 24 hours—we have none of the requested documents,” Caputo said. “I have testified three times under oath, answering the same questions each time, paying $20,000 to $30,000 each time. I have not yet been invited to testify a fourth time. If I am, I will decline. If I am subpoenaed, I will assert my Fifth Amendment rights. Enough is enough.”
It’s good to see that people like President Trump, Assange and Caputo are standing up against the corrupt Democrats in Washington D.C.
