Our romantic life is a movie. It is shaped by love stories, album covers, songs that once moved us, and films that once touched us. We become imprinted by these templates and then set out to recreate these imprints in our own lived experience; the movie of our life. We find ourselves casting the role of our beloved, searching for the one to fill the scene, to arrest the frame, to transport us to an enchanted and cinematic realm. This is no doubt a creative act: Love is as much an imaginative construction as a delightful surprise, the moment someone exceeds our templates and expectations, we readily invite them into creating a world together. This is probably the most blissful possibility of the human experience.
