This 'UFO' is not quite what it seems. Image Credit: Stephanie Marsden
A recent image of an alleged UFO in England has been thoroughly debunked by the former MoD investigator.
Stephanie Marsden had been driving along Chesterfield Road, Matlock on February 27th when she decided to stop at the side of the road and take a photograph of the full moon overhead.
When she looked at the image (above) however, a strange circular object had appeared in the sky.
But is this really evidence of alien visitors or is there a more conventional explanation ?
One man who knows all about the study of UFOs is Nick Pope - an author and UFO researcher who previously spent years investigating the phenomenon for the UK's Ministry of Defense.
When he saw the image, he knew immediately what it was.
"At risk of people thinking I'm still secretly working for the government, debunking all this, I'm afraid I agree with the people who say this is a reflection - probably of one of the dials on the dashboard," he told The Derbyshire Times.
"Although the witness said the engine was turned off and that none of the lights were on inside the car, there's enough ambient light - from the moon, the streetlights and from lights in some of the houses - to illuminate one of the dials on an instrument and cause a reflection."
"These sorts of effects are particularly likely to occur when taking a photo through glass."
It just goes to show how easily something mundane in a photograph can be mistaken for a UFO.
