Keanu Staude: Fully Vaccinated Football Player Develops Myocarditis, Out For At Least A Month
The COVID World post date: February 7th, 2022
Professional football player Keanu Staude is out for at least a month after being diagnosed with inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis). The 25-year-old, who plays as a midfielder for 1860 Munich, complained of feeling unwell after his team’s match vs. Viktoria Köln on January 30th.
In November last year, 1860 Munich club director Günther Gorenzel had boasted that the team had reached a 100% vaccination rate.
Keanu Staude, 25, has developed myocarditis and is forced to sideline for at least a month. The midfielder is fully vaccinated.
Staude played a key role in the 1-0 win against Viktoria Köln on January 30th. However, the former Bielefeld player complained of feeling unwell after the match and was subjected to extensive examination according to club officials. It was later revealed that he had developed inflammation of the heart muscle.
A statement from the club reads in part:
Director Gorenzel commented:“In order not to take any further risks, Keanu Staude will not be able to do competitive sports for at least four weeks and will therefore not be available to the ‘lions’.”
1860 Munich club director Günther Gorenzel had boasted that the team had reached a 100% vaccination rate.“Keanu will not be doing any more training for the time being and will only rejoin the team after approval by our medical team.”
When asked last year how his club had managed to vaccinate all sixty members including players and staff, Gorenzel responded that it was not an easy task as there were several “skeptics” among them.
The director said at the time that he did not force it (yet) on his players, but he added:“It didn’t happen overnight, it was a long process. I have had many intense discussions.
I have an open leadership style and try not to dictate anything. You have to take people with you [without force].”
Inflammation of the heart muscle – myocarditis – has recently been a much-discussed topic in German professional football after triple-vaccinated Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies was diagnosed with the heart condition on January 14th. The world-class fullback hasn’t returned to the pitch since then.“I have a private opinion that I don’t express. I can only say that so far nobody has shown me a solution how to get out of the pandemic without vaccination.”
