The solar eclipse has been absolutely stunning today, and photos are being shared from all over the country as the eclipse moves east.

The Solar Eclipse in Washington

In this photo below, the Moon is seen passing in front of the Sun during a view of the solar eclipse from Ross Lake, Northern Cascades National Park, Washington. A total solar eclipse swept across a narrow portion of the contiguous United States from Lincoln Beach, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina. A partial solar eclipse was visible across the entire North American continent along with parts of South America, Africa, and Europe.

The Sun started to vanish behind the Moon as the partial phase of the so-called Great American Eclipse began Monday, with millions of eager sky-gazers soon to witness “totality” across the nation for the first time in nearly a century.

I didn't have any glasses so I had kind of given up on it, but I decided to at least go out and experience it. I ended up being amazed by watching it through my senses. An hour before it happened the birds were first very loud and then all of a sudden went silent! I was watching my squash plant sitting in the golden sunlight and then slowly the sun on the leaves began to turn silver as did my whole yard, I could tell how far along the process was by watching the brightness of the sun behind my eyelids and my skin went from burning hot to cool as a breeze kicked up and suddenly gazillions of crickets began to sing. I could sense it was over as the whole process reversed itself....Very cool way to experience it. Talk about feeling connected to the earth.....This is the connection we all need to revive and use it just as the Native Americans did. Better to connect to earth than IPods....... VK

Awesome VK! Thanks for chiming in!
Here it was totally cloudy so not a thing could be seen unlike in the southern past of the state that my son went to and hopefully got some wonderful pics and videos. But it did go slightly dark here. And the birds totally stopped and the crickets were really loud here also.
