Researching the pyramids of Egypt has led me to a little known ancient structure in a little known settlement known to the Greeks as Letopolis and to the ancient Egyptians as the town of Khem. Today, it is the modern town of Ausim. Very little is known about Letopolis other than it had been an important religious centre as early as the First dynasty and therefore it isn’t unreasonable to suggest it may have harked back to earlier pre-dynastic times. It is mentioned in Old Kingdom texts as well as in the Middle Kingdom Coffin Texts as the centre of worship for the god Horus Khenty-Khem, which is one of many local aspects of Horus. At Letopolis, there was a huge tower, directly due north of the Giza Pyramids and directly below Ursa Major or The Plough Constellation.
