On September you'll find Mars hanging out high in the south before sunrise. it's near orange-colored Aldebaran, the eye of Taurus the bull. And over the course of the month, Mars works its way eastward from Aldebaran toward reddish Betelgeuse creating a sort of "red triangle" in the morning sky. Then the Red Planet will appear to hit the brakes and halt its eastward motion, to hang out in that triangle for the next month or so. Moon Passing Near Mars The nearly last quarter moon lies near bright red Mars on the mornings of September 16 and 17, 2022. The reddish star near Mars is Aldebaran, the eye of Taurus the Bull. Also, delicate Pleiades glows nearby with Orion the Hunter, lower in the sky. See also Betelgeuse and Rigel, the brightest stars of the Orion constellation. Clear Skies Everyone!
